Malcom Long: Alright, Walter, let’s try a little game of Magic: the Gathering, shall we?

Rorschach: …

Malcolm Long: Walter, why don’t you go ahead and go first. What would you like to play?

Rorschach: …

Malcolm Long: …

Rorschach: Mountain.

Malcolm Long: Good. That’s very good. Now Walter, I’m going to play an Island. It’s your turn.

Rorschach: …

Malcolm Long: Go ahead, Walter.

Rorschach: Mountain.

Malcolm Long: OK, good. Walter, I’m very pleased with your responses this afternoon. Now I’m going to play another Island. This is going well, isn’t it? Then it’s your turn.

Rorschach: …

Malcolm Long: …

Rorschach: Mountain.

Malcolm Long: What else, Walter?

Rorschach: And then, a Goblin Chieftain.

Malcolm Long: OK, Walter, that’s very good. Now Walter, I’m going to counter that spell with a Counterspell.

Rorschach: I don’t like you.

Malcolm Long: Uh … you don’t like me. Alright. Alright. Er … why is that exactly?

Rorschach: You’re fat. Lazy. Think you can sit back and counter my spells.

Malcolm Long: Well, Walter, I —

Rorschach: You don’t want to play any spells of your own. You just want to know what I’m going to play. What makes me “tick.” That way you can get famous. Get your name in all the journals.

Malcolm Long: Walter, it’s just … it’s just that Counterspell was the only two-drop I had in my hand —

Rorschach: The Comedian understood. He knew things that everyone knows in gut. Things everyone too scared to talk about. He understood.

Malcolm Long: I can play a different deck …

Rorschach: Understood man’s capacity for horrors. Never surrendered. Once a man has seen, he can never turn his back on it. Never pretend it doesn’t exist.

Malcolm Long: Are you running Piledriver? Because he’s pro-blue —

Rorschach: No matter who tries to counter his spells. No matter who tells him not to play Mountains.

Malcolm Long: Walter, you can play Mountains. You just can’t play Skullclamp.

Rorschach: We do not play red because it is “permitted.” We do it because we have to. We do it because we are compelled.

Walter Kovacs a k a Rorschach is currently being evaluated for transfer to a psychiatric hospital for the criminally insane.

I want this scene to be edited into the movie.

We have our fingers crossed for a final ultimate special director’s cut.
