RENTON, Wash. — A magicthegathering.com item titled “Dong Defends Beijing” congratulating Magic player Dong Zhong was changed earlier this week to “Zhong Defends Beijing.”
The change was made after it was decided that Dongs were too controversial for the Web site, according to Wizards of the Coast spokeswoman Tina Gaffney.
“If your name is Dong, or Wang, or, God forbid, Phuc, then I’m afraid we’re going to have to ask you to change your name or something if you want us to write about you on magicthegathering.com,” Gaffney said.
“We’re trying to keep it PG-13,” she said.
