GOLDMEADOW — The local cenn here announced Thanksgiving morning before a large festival crowd that he was “pardoning” three changelings as part of the holiday festivities.
The annual “pardoning of the changelings” is a longtime Thanksgiving tradition here in the village, presided over by the cenn each year.
“These changelings will not be eaten, and are instead ‘pardoned,’” the cenn said before an amused crowd Thursday.
“Otherwise, we would have put these changelings into a pen with some turkeys, and when the changelings had become turkeys, we would have wrung their necks,” the cenn said.
Instead of being devoured, the cenn said, the changelings will be allowed to watch the big game, which is played every Thanksgiving with a ball made from a changeling.
The cenn said that changeling meat was especially delicious.
“You know, the way they are when you put some changeling gravy on them, and then you have some mashed potato changelings, and that cranberry changeling sauce – it’s irresistable,” the cenn said.
“Although, changelings contain a hell of a lot of tryptophan. Way more than real turkeys,” he said.
