RENTON, Wash. — Wizards of the Coast’s Randy Buehler announced Thursday that he had “discovered in a vault” the “lost third set” of Magic: The Gathering’s Ravnica block.

Buehler said that the lost and previously unnamed set will be called “Dissension.”

“We’re going to take this long-lost Magic set, clean up the templating a little bit, utilize the new card frames and, believe it or not, actually release this set to the public,” Buehler said Thursday.

“That’s right! People will be able to buy and play with a ‘third set’ of Ravnica block, which I luckily discovered lost in a safe or something like that,” he added. “Isn’t it unbelievable?”

Reporters asked Buehler if, in reality, the Dissension set wasn’t actually recently created using a modern design and development process and tested using the Future Future League, just like any other recent set.

“Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no. No. No. No. No,” said Buehler. “No. This long-lost set was found in a vault. Yeah. That’s right,” he added, nodding his head. “I found it.”

“This set was made a long time ago and stuff,” he said.

Buehler said that there was more surprising news for players.

“Believe it or not, these cards are going to be playable in Standard,” he said. “We’re actually going to allow that. Standard is going to be like, Kamigawa, Ninth Edition, this new long-lost set, Ravnica, Guildpact, let’s see, something from Ice Age, Portal 2, uh, Chronicles, eight of the Vanguard cards, those pro player things that everyone’s already thankfully forgotten, Shicky-Foojin Dragon or however you say it, any cards Richard Garfield gave his wife, and who knows what else,” he said.

“We could have just created a third set for Ravnica, but what fun would that be? It’s way more fun if I just like found it or something,” Buehler said. “You know, like, maybe an albino gave it to me in Tangiers or something cool like that,” he said.
