KAMIGAWA — In a move that some observers called the grossest display of complete incompetence they had ever seen, a local ninja involved in a border raid was killed by his own caltrops late Sunday evening.
Even more amazing to many witnesses, the unnamed ninja was flying at the time, local officials said.
“If you had told me yesterday that one of our ninja would die by his own caltrops, I would not have believed you,” said han poison taster Gafuni Tinaku.
“The fact that this happened while he was in flight — I simply do not understand what it is that I just saw,” she said.
“It is impossible,” Gafuni-san added.
The ninja had used a pair of phantom wings to escape and return to the han after the raid, witnesses said.
“The caltrops are one of many useful shadow tools to the ninja,” Gafuni-san said.
“However, when the ninja scatter the caltrops, they are not to scatter them in such a way that when the ninja fly past the caltrops, the caltrops somehow burst out of the air and impale the ninja from all sides,” she said.
“That is improper technique,” she added.

How unprofessional.
Shouldn’t it be “Flyiing Ninja “nearly” killed by own caltrops” since he was actually saved by the wings that just sent him home?
No… that just adds to the humiliation.
“Wait… I could have saved my ninja? Aw man…”
I enjoyed this one
Flavor nonsequitors is a very rich field for humor.
Yeah, the technical accuracy of these fake magic the gathering stories have really been slipping lately.
Like anyone cares about technical accuracy here.
